DOT Announces Revised Federal Drug Testing Custody and Control Form

The U.S. Department of Transportation has approved a revised federal drug testing Custody and Control Form (CCF).

The previous version of the Custody and Control Form was last updated in January 2017 and may continue to be used through August 30, 2021. After this date, the new Custody and Control Form must be used for federal drug screen testing. Most of the changes to the revised CCF were implemented to accommodate the use of oral fluid specimens for federal drug testing programs. It should be noted that oral fluid testing is currently not authorized in the Department of Transportation's (DOT) drug testing program.

What should employers do?

Employers and their service agents are authorized to use the new form, which became effective September 1, 2020. However, to allow existing supplies of old CCF's to be depleted, Truescreen recommends using any existing older CCF's before requesting the revised new CCF forms as a best practice.

How will Truescreen help?

Truescreen will help monitor CCF supplies and communicate with additional information as the August 30, 2021 expiration date approaches. We will also work to identify any changes needed regarding the current company Designated Employer Representative (DER) and company address (as it should appear on the CCF) well in advance of the August 30, 2021 deadline. If collection sites or mobile technicians are in possession of a client's old CCF's, we will reach out to ensure they are supplied with revised forms.

If you have any questions, please contact your sales executive, account manager or our customer service team.
