Quest Diagnostics Announces Lab Closure in Atlanta, GA
On January 5, 2021, Quest Diagnostics announced plans to close their Atlanta lab (located in Tucker, GA), decreasing their number of operational labs to two (2).
Effective March 6, 2021 the Lenexa, KS and Norristown, PA labs will be the only labs performing workforce drug testing including hair, oral fluid and urine. The lab closing in Georgia only processed urine samples.
Quest is the only SAMHSA-certified and CAP-FT accredited laboratory to offer in-house testing for all three specimen types as noted above. In most cases, the state determines the logistics and designated testing lab. However, testing is split between two labs in some states such as Ohio and Kentucky.
Understanding that screening expediency is critical to our clients in the hiring process, the transition of workforce drug testing from the Georgia location to the remaining two Quest testing labs is being conducted in a manner to ensure minimal impact on turnaround times.
