Expired EADs may be used by Somalian TPS beneficiaries to complete the Form I-9.
The Secretary of Homeland Security announced the extension and redesignation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Somalia due to ongoing conditions in that country. Employment Authorization Documents ("EAD" or "Form I-766") issued to individuals showing a category code of A12 or C19, country of Somalia, with expiration dates of 9/17/21 or 3/17/23 have been automatically extended through March 17, 2024.
New or existing employees can use this EAD, standing alone, to establish identity and work authorization and complete an initial (new hire) or reverification (existing employee).
More information on the TPS program can be found here, and specifically Somalia, here.
