Illinois revises law to eliminate automatic disqualifiers for employment in schools

HB 4360 revised the state’s school code to no longer bar those who have been convicted of certain nonviolent drug offenses from working in schools throughout the state.

The law, which went into effect on July 29, 2016, states that individuals convicted of these applicable offenses must wait seven years from the end of their sentencing before applying to any Illinois school.

The full text of the law can be found here.
